Missions

As believers we all have been given a mission, and we find our purpose when we embrace it.  So what is our mission?

To seek the glory of God and the good of all peoples through Jesus Christ

W
e carry out this mission locally, regionally, and internationally, and in the process we grow and learn.  If you are not involved, please know that opportunities exist, and consider how God may want you to fulfill your mission through QSBC.

Local Missions

God has determined to use the church to impact the world, and for us, the world starts right here in Oklahoma City.

The metro area has many effective ministries that need our assistance. Opportunities exist to tutor disadvantaged kids, to help internationals with English, to counsel young pregnant women, to become a coach, to serve in a rescue mission, and to spend time with the elderly. One place to begin is to plug into an existing ministry like Hope Pregnancy Center and to serve regularly. Doing so supports local ministries, mends broken lives, and enriches our own souls.

If your Connect Group has a ministry project idea for touching lives outside the church (e.g., home repair) and if your group needs financial assistance, click here to download a project application.  We want to empower Connect Groups to minister to the needy.

Regional Missions

In 2014, we launched the 2020 Church Planting Initiative (CPI), the goal of which is to start or strengthen 70 churches in 7 years through partnerships with the North American Mission Board (NAMB), Baptist state conventions, and local churches.

Most of these churches will be in Send Cities, locations identified by NAMB as having few evangelical congregations. To learn more about our current church plants, click here.

In addition to this church planting effort, we also send short-term teams to work with partners and ministries in North America. The goal is to strengthen existing ministries and to grow volunteers as they stretch their wings and serve outside of their home state.

International Missions

Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise”  (Ps. 96:1-4a).

These verses command us to declare God’s glory among the nations, among all peoples. And this begs the questions, “How many peoples are there?” and “which have not had his glory declared to them?”

According to the International Mission Board, there are more than 11,000 people groups, and of these, some 6,500 have little to no access to the gospel. As a result, QSBC is committed to prioritizing our international mission work to these groups.

For this reason, our mission trips tend to go to places that are far from home and that are among people groups that have relatively few churches. These places and people are often challenging, but they are also exciting in that they are at the frontlines of the battle with darkness.  Would you pray about joining us as we go?
