Think about the last time you went on a family vacation, or a road trip with friends. Do you remember having feelings of excitement or jittery nerves as you anticipated the adventure? Perhaps you even remember certain expectations that were formed while planning for the trip.
This is how we think of the new year. We picture it as a long, anticipated journey spent side by side with our Quail Springs Baptist Church family. As we plan for 2019, we are simultaneously creating goals and expectations for the church body. And while expectations can create challenges with our fellow journeyers, they also create growth.
Our 2019 theme is “Challenge Accepted! Pursuing Jesus With Others!” Throughout the year, we will look at four key “landmarks” of the Christian journey: Seeking God, Serving God & Others, Being Unashamed of Jesus, and Trusting & Obeying Jesus. These key characteristics of discipleship will help us mature in our relationship with God and each other.
It is through the lens of this theme that we also present the 2019 General Ministry Budget Proposal. We have, in good faith, set high expectations for what the Lord will accomplish through the 2019 budget. The numbers reflect this with an increase in support for ministry programs and missions efforts. As we grow together, we pray God will transform our hearts and minds, especially in how we view and utilize the financial resources and gifts He has provided.
We are expecting much from God in 2019. And the beautiful thing about prayerfully setting expectations for God is that He will exceed them every time – in His own sovereign and perfect way. Ephesians 3:20 says, He “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.”
We have high hopes for what the Lord will do in and through our members and the ministries of Quail Springs Baptist Church during the upcoming year. Get ready for a challenging, yet rewarding year of growth as we learn to pursue Jesus with others!
The proposed budget will be voted on at the Quarterly Business Meeting on January 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the Chapel.
