Problem. Did you know that nearly one-third of 4th graders in Oklahoma read below a satisfactory level of proficiency? These Oklahoma children need help. That is where Whiz Kids comes in.

Solution. Whiz Kids is a faith-based, one-on-one volunteer tutoring/mentoring program that focuses on first through sixth grade students who live in areas that have some of the highest drop-out rates and lowest socioeconomic levels in Oklahoma City. Whiz Kids is proactive and preventative in nature, targeting inner-city schools and students who are reading below grade level and who could benefit most from a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult.

Through Whiz Kids, QSBC partners with Baptist Temple to provide tutors for children at Sequoya Elementary School. The program occurs on Mondays from 3:00–5:00pm.

Opportunity. We need tutors for about 50 children. We also need substitute tutors, people who can help on occasion.
