Ashamed or Unashamed?

by Randy Davis on July 26, 2019

Growing up I remember trying my best to please my parents and make them proud of me. I was by no means a perfect child, but who is? Knowing my love language now, which is ‘words of affirmation’, it made sense why I did what I did to and for my parents—I didn’t want them to be ashamed of me.

The Apostle Paul in Romans 1:16, says that “I am not ashamed of the gospel…”  I believe he wanted to do everything possible to please his daddy in Heaven.  Paul was sold out to the gospel. Why? Because he knew “it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” (Romans 1:16b)

Speaking of pleasing our Father in Heaven, check out what the writer of Hebrews says in Chapter 11  verses 13 through 16, especially verse 16!

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.” (Hebrews 11:13-16)

Our God, our daddy, is not ashamed to be called THEIR God, for He has prepared for them a city, which is Heaven! Talk about words of AFFIRMATION. Holy WOW!

I pray we can live up to the standard of Paul and be unashamed of the gospel. Will you take up the challenge with me to live unashamed? Let’s make our Heavenly Father proud because He is unashamed of us!
