UPDATE: May 9, 2012
Great weather this week and a great deal of progress on both buildings. The HVAC crews and the electricians are busy on the Adult Education Building installing duct, conduit and junction boxes. The second floor is taking shape with the wall layouts and doorways in place.
Additional sections of the floor have been poured in the new fellowship hall and the kitchen areas, and the steel columns are being set on the south end of the building.
The crane is sitting in the middle of the fellowship hall space and will slowly move to the north as the crews continue to put together the intricate layout of steel columns and beams.
According to Lippert Bros., the steel erection for the entire west building will go well into June and possibly July. The arches will be the last pieces to go up on the North side of the building.
By then the size and scope of the structure will be realized, and we will spend the rest of the year anxiously waiting for it to be finished.
Actually, the Adult Education building could be ready by the end of the year, with the west building completed in early spring. The renovation would then start on the existing ‘B’ building, which includes the present library, restrooms, Adult One area, fellowship hall and existing kitchen.
We have much to look forward to and much to be thankful for as we see what God is doing at QSBC.
