VICTORY: Heart Campaign Giving Tops $5 Million

Oklahoma City (June 7, 2010)–The original goal of the A Work of Heart: Building for future generations stewardship campaign and building program was to construct Phase 1 of the long-range plan and pay for it through a three-year giving campaign.

What followed could be called a spriritual journey. Beginning in November of 2006, pledges were made that totaled about $4 million, to be given over three years. Construction  of the new student building, expanded offices and new preschool suite was estimated to cost approximately $5 million. Therefore, the Victory Goal of the stewardship campaign was to have $5 million contributed. As of three-plus years later, the Victory Goal was met.

“It gives me great joy to see how the Lord provided through His people,” said Charlie Wedemeyer, QSBC’s chairman of the Work of Heart building finance committee. “The projects, made possible through the sacrificial giving of this church, are already blessing our young people, as we see the student building and preschool area brimming. Future generations also will be blessed, I believe.”

During the course of construction, unique opportunities not part of the original plan became available which the church voted to approve. These included a complete repaving and expansion of the church parking lot, new adult education space, and the addition of the QSBC cafe.

“Between the generous giving of our people and the wise use of funds and loan management–even with the additional projects–we have a managable $230,000 in debt remaining,” said QSBC’s Tom Boone. “I’m also pleased to report giving was very broad, with more than 700 families participating,” added Boone.

“To God be the glory for the great things He has done,” said Pastor Hance Dilbeck.
